SENIOR KNITWEAR DESIGNER

Beyond Talent is delighted to collaborate exclusively with one of the most popular premium fashion companies that, due to an important moment of growth, is looking for a Senior knitwear designer to join one of their head offices based in Europe.

Reporting to the Head of design and working closely with the Creative Director, the Knitwear designer will be in charge of the design and development of their knitwear collection, partner closely with the Product and the Merchandising departments to develop and evolve the knit line, ensuring cohesiveness across the whole brand.

The knitwear designer job requires effective collaboration with all womenswear design team members, a high level of attention to detail and confidence working in a fast-paced, hands on and creative environment. You will have excellent team skills, strong product sensitivity, knowledge of hand and machine knitwear and yarn mills, all underpinned with a balance of being highly creative with a commercial mindset.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a hands-on, creative focused role with real autonomy and responsibility.

Responsibilities of a knitwear designer role

  • Responsible of developing the entire RTW Knitwear collection, from concept to execution, collaborating with all in-house departments, such as Product Development, Pattern Cutter, Merchandise.
  • Understand the creative vision of the brand, as directed by the Head of Design and the Creative Director.
  • Ensure corporate sustainable standards are met.
  • Collection research: vintage, editorial, books/films, galleries, and museums
  • Sketching and technical drawings
  • Design and develop swatches
  • Illustrator artworks for jacquards, intarsias, ribs, etc.
  • Maintaining seasonal sketch and yarn files
  • Attend fittings and collaborate with the Technical Engineer, ensuring garments meet fit, comfort and construction goals
  • Research currents bestsellers and trends to develop new styles and brand evolution
  • Lead and participate in regular team meetings to present and to reinforce close communication in design
  • Participate in preparation of line for various meetings and market presentations


Skills of a knitwear designer

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Proven knowledge in the KNITWEAR product category
  • An understanding and connection with the brand aesthetic
  • Worked in a contemporary or luxury fashion house design team
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, experience with CLO3D is a plus but not essential
  • Strong drawing skills
  • Experience and great interest in Sustainability is a must to succeed in this role
  • Drive for results
  • Ability to work independently in a creative capacity when required
  • Strong interest in Fashion and culture, current and historical
  • Ability to priorities multiple tasks and requests, while working in a high pace environment
  • Excellent time management skills
